There's still hope...

Yes, this is stolen information... but you deserve it. Just for friends.

Reactivated rockers THE CULT are rumored to be planning a number of European festival appearances in June/July, including the Super Bock Super Rock festival in Lisbon, Portugal (June 7) and the Volt Festival in Sopron, Hungary (July 5-8). Exact cities and dates are expected to be announced soon.
In other news, THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy recently spoke to Jason Bracelin of the Las Vegas Review-Journal about the group's decision to reunite and their future plans. A few excerpts from the chat follow: On regrouping after frontman Ian Astbury made the rounds fronting THE DOORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY: "Basically, Ian went through the process of doing THE DOORS, and through singing somebody else's stuff and detaching himself from being at the center of the band, I think he just gained some perspective on the fact that THE CULT wasn't such a terrible place to be. "He's grown back into the idea of wanting to do it again. I think that THE DOORS was kind of escapism for him for awhile, and then he realized, 'Hey, I'd really rather be singing the songs that I wrote.' "
On playing in a number of celebrity L.A. cover bands like the CARDBOARD VAMPYRES and CAMP FREDDY, whose lineups are a who's who of famous rockers past and present:"I think me playing in other bands has been very beneficial. In the last three years, I've done tons of gigs with CAMP FREDDY, with Matt Sorum, Dave Navarro, Jerry Cantrell, Steve Jones and bunches of singers and different musicians, from Lou Reed to Ronnie Wood. That's been a great experience, and it definitely helps."
On THE CULT's 2001 comeback effort, "Beyond Good and Evil" (Atlantic), which failed to make much of an impact on the charts despite the initial success of first single "Rise": "When you're trying to sell something — and we took a fairly big record deal when they were still going around — we felt a lot of pressure to live up to that and perform. I think that at this point, we're a lot happier just playing live music. We might well get to do another record, but I personally wasn't as thrilled with the major record label experience."
On the setlist for their current tour:"We're trying to focus a little bit on earlier stuff, the 'Love' album and even the pre-'Love' album. I think sonically, a lot of the newer bands are in that early '80s era, from '81 through sort of '85, just before rock 'n' roll came back. "It's kind of trippy to hear Ian's voice back in that pre- out-and-out blues rock vein. It was good. We were a little naive; we weren't slick. We hadn't read the book on how to write songs."

There's still hope for us, Cult maniacs... Team KD will be there...
